Panic is a response, not always a reflection of reality. The rush, the fear, the racing heart—it’s all temporary.

Panic Attacks : Your nervous system asking for a reset

WHY PANIC ATTACKS HAPPEN:

Panic attacks can feel sudden and overwhelming, like your body is sounding a full-blown alarm—but the truth is, there’s often no real danger. What’s happening is that your nervous system, already weighed down by stress, anxious thoughts, or even past trauma, is just trying to protect you the best way it knows how.

In those moments, your brain floods your body with stress hormones like adrenaline. Your heart races, your chest tightens, maybe you feel dizzy or like you’re losing control. It’s scary—but it’s not your fault.

Your body isn’t trying to harm you—it’s trying to help. And the more you understand this response, the more power you have to gently calm it and begin feeling safe in your own body again.

COMMON SYMPTOMS OF PANIC ATTACKS:

  • Rapid or pounding heartbeat
  • Shortness of breath or the sensation of not being able to breathe
  • Chest pain or discomfort
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Sweating or chills
  • Trembling or shaking
  • Nausea or stomach upset
  • Feeling detached from reality or yourself (derealization/depersonalization)
  • Fear of losing control or "going crazy"
  • Sudden, intense fear or a sense of impending doom
  • Hot flashes or cold sweats
  • Tightness in the throat or difficulty swallowing

HOW EFT AND HYPNOTHERAPY CALM THE NERVOUS SYSTEM:

Hypnotherapy, especially when combined with Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), provides powerful support in calming the nervous system during a panic attack. By guiding the mind into a relaxed, focused state, hypnotherapy helps interrupt the fight-or-flight response, while EFT’s gentle tapping soothes energy disruptions and emotional overwhelm. Together, they engage the parasympathetic system—often through vagus nerve stimulation and intentional vasovagal breathing—to restore balance. This grounding process helps restore a sense of safety and homeostasis, making it easier to move through intense moments with ease and control.
